How do we create residential polished concrete floors?
We offer two different options:

Grind and Seal Polished Concrete

Grind and seal is the process of using a diamond grinder on the concrete’s surface, followed by applying a topical sealer over the surface in a matt, satin or gloss finish. This creates an aesthetically pleasing style.

Grind and seal flooring is economical, easy to clean and long lasting. It embraces the natural features of the concrete, while being sustainable, easy to manage and cost-effective.

Mechanically Polished Concrete

A mechanically polished concrete finish features a more involved process. Firstly we grind, grout and repair your concrete floor. Secondly we harden it using a densifying compound. Finally, the surface of the concrete is polished with diamond impregnated resin pads to the desired gloss levels.

Polished Concrete FAQs:

FAQ

How long your job will take will depend very much on the finish your choose, the size of your floor area, layout of floor area and condition of your floor etc but as a rough guide for say a high end residential area of 100m2 we would allow approx 4 days whereas for say an industrial epoxy floor finish in a warehouse we could complete an area of approx 400m2 in 4 days.

For an accurate quote, please complete our enquiry form with information about your flooring request or call us.

For our Grind and Seal / Epoxy floor finishes and any floor finish with a topical coating applied we recommend waiting a minimum of 48 hours before walking on your floor whereas with the Mechanically Polished Concrete floor finish you can access your floor area immediately.

It is always best to contact us for a quote as each job is different, however, we consider:

  • Which finish you have chosen
  • Size of the floor
  • Layout of floor area
  • Condition of concrete
  • Other factors including location, power available, access to area and hours we can work to complete the job

Polished concrete has an insulating quality, making it warm in winter and cool in summer.

No. It is no different to other hard flooring surfaces. However, if it gets wet, concrete flooring can be slippery. For wet or external areas we can add a fine silica or similar to any of our surface sealers / topical coatings to provide a non-slip finish.

Yes. The processes and sealers etc we use ensure your concrete flooring will be water tight.

Burnished concrete is a process that must be carried out to concrete as it is being laid to provide a very hard tight surface. It is commonly used in industrial buildings, carparks and warehouses, but is becoming increasingly popular in residential and commercial settings. We are able to offer surface polished and sealed finishes to burnished concrete if it is well finished. Contact Us to find out more

Aggregate refers to the stone mix in your concrete floor. You can choose the aggregate colour and size through your concrete supplier prior to your concrete slab being laid and hence prior to us polishing it meaning you have control over the final aesthetics of your floor. If we are polishing an existing concrete floor, the aggregate will already be embedded hence we have no control over it’s appearance.

We can advise based on your individual needs.
